Triumphed in the face of adversity

Happy New Year, everyone! I hope this is the beginning of a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you all. I found something special I’d like to share with you. This past weekend I was channel surfing when I ran across an extraordinary story about a blind football player, a young man named Charlie Wilks. His story is both amazing and inspirational. I started this topic here because I felt it would help us to learn about real people who have triumphed over tragedy in order to do great things in their life. Maybe you have your own story or know of others who have stories to share. Please feel free to share your story or pass the word along to others to share their stories with us. I hope you are all inspired by Charlie the same way I am. As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” I believe that the human spirit is strong, and has the power to rise above adversity. See Charles’ story on the YouTube web site, by following this link. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4CQIIy5bAM. I can’t wait to read your stories. We all have so much to share. Let’s make it a great year!

In the spirit of sharing stories of those who have triumphed over adversity, I wanted to share this link I came across on youtube. This video highlights the story of a highly functioning autistic young man by the name of Jason McElwain, or as his friends call him, "J-Mack." This video shows what happened the day he played the game of his life. I hope you all find it as inspiring as I do. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fw1CcxCUgg&feature=related

My name is Margaret and i was diagnosed with relapsing MS 3 years ago, I am 33 now.

The left side of my body had been slowly deterating, making me unable to work in the medical career that I had. I had been diagnosed with serious depression over 15 years before, not knowing I had MS. I have been on prozac, xanax, zoloft, seroquil, effexor, and buspar. I had terrible fatigue and needed assistance with simple everyday activites.

I tried all the typical treatment forms, shots, shots and more shots. I am only 5'3 and weight 100lbs, so i had serious side affects. I stoped each treatment after 1 week.

The last treatment was Tysabri. I have now been on it for 16 months and after my own rigorous physical therapy, i am now almost completely mobile on my left side and take NO ANTIDEPRESSANTS anymore.

The energy levels have returned and I can honestly say I have almost restored the person I was before. I have been awarded disability and now, I enjoy my life with every moment!

This is for my husband who has had ms for about 5 years now, and is really having a rough time, including bad vertigo right now. This includes bad fatique every day. It is just so very hard to see him like this every day. So please add him to your prayer list. I would be very grateful. Thank you so much!
